For Receivers:

STEP 1 - Determine what and from where you are shipping.
The pricing and logistics for rail shipments are typically based on the load's weight and distance. If necessary, talk to your shipper or supplier to retrieve this information.

STEP 2 - Contact the M&E.
Call the M&E at 973-267-4300 or at ship@merail.com to receive a shipping quote. The M&E’s sales representatives will work with connecting railroads to find the most cost-effective shipping options and best routings for your product. M&E representatives will also help you determine what kind of railcar you will be receiving your product in, and will help you locate a suitable unloading location along M&E rail lines.

STEP 3 - Order your railcar.
Contact your shipper or supplier to order your carload, and tell them the M&E destination for the car. The M&E's connecting railroads will automatically pass on the shipping information to the M&E.

STEP 4 - Monitor your shipment.
M&E representatives will work closely with you to monitor your shipment’s progress until it reaches you, keeping you updated with the railcar’s location and estimated arrival date. The M&E also offers automatic daily car tracking reports.

STEP 5 - Receive your shipment.
The M&E will make sure your car arrives safely and on-time, informing you of the delivery date so you can plan accordingly.
